Chequer / Checker plate is used in decorative, architectural applications and shipbuilding – (because it is anti-corrosive and it doesn't require painting so it is low maintenance). Chequer plate is a very versatile material with many different uses. 304 and 304L are the most commonly used grades for stainless steel chequered plates as they are less expensive, highly versatile, easily roll-formed or shaped and offer excellent corrosion resistance and weldability, while also maintaining their durability. For coastal and marine environments, grades 316 and 316L are often favoured due to their superior corrosion resistance and are particularly effective in acidic environments.
